Plates and Engraving (in Slovenian)
9. 4. 2026
You are invited to a special ceramics workshop where we will combine hands-on creation with modern technology. Together, we will explore how ceramics can be enhanced with laser engraving and transform clay into unique, functional plates with a personal touch.
The workshop is designed as a complete creative process, where over three sessions we will develop our pieces from soft clay to the final fired and glazed plate. We will cover all key stages of ceramic creation – shaping, laser decoration, and glazing – blending traditional craft with digital tools.
In the first session, under the guidance of the mentor, we will create ceramic plates using basic hand-building techniques. Each participant will be able to shape up to three plates, which will be bisque-fired after the session and ready for further processing.
The second session will focus on exploring laser engraving on ceramics. Together with the mentor Tanja Lažetić, we will learn how the laser cutter works, prepare our own designs, convert them into vector format, and engrave them directly onto our bisque-fired plates. This is where we will add a personal story, pattern, or symbol to the ceramics.
In the third session, we will focus on glazing. We will learn about different types of glazes, application techniques, and basic rules for working in the glaze studio. We will glaze our plates and prepare them for the final firing.
By the end of the workshop, we will take home unique, hand-crafted, engraved, and glazed plates ready for everyday use. Participants will take home not only the finished pieces but also new knowledge, inspiration, and the experience of combining hands, materials, and technology.
