Ceramic Lamp (in Slovenian)
29. 4. 2026
In this wheel-throwing workshop, we will embark on a creative process to make a ceramic lamp, combining knowledge, hand skills, and bold experimentation. Over four sessions, we will deepen our work on the wheel and explore how individual elements come together to form a complex, functional, and visually expressive piece. This course is intended for participants with basic prior experience who wish to move beyond classic forms, take a step further, and experiment with designing unique lighting objects.
We will gradually follow the entire process: from the first touch of raw clay, shaping on the wheel, and precise throwing, to assembling, decorating, and final glazing. Special emphasis will be placed on exploring forms, perforations, and lighting effects made possible by different structures and glazes. We will encourage an open, curious approach and the development of individual design expression.
Throughout the course, participants will improve technical precision, expand their understanding of materials, and build a solid foundation for further independent wheel work. By the end, participants will take home not only a unique ceramic lamp but also new confidence in their creative practice.
Workshop Program:
Session 1:
We will throw a variety of basic shapes – the building blocks of lamps – and experiment with height, volume, and proportions.
Session 2:
We will continue throwing the basic forms, refine them, and explore diverse combinations and assembly possibilities.
Session 3:
Focus on throwing, assembling, and further shaping the ceramic lamp into a cohesive form.
Session 4:
Glazing the lamps using different techniques and experimenting with surfaces, textures, and color effects to enhance the light and character of the piece.
