Material Playroom for Families
16. 4. 2026
In the Materials Playroom, we have gathered a colourful range of materials that originate in our laboratories and no longer have a direct use in production processes. Pieces of fabric, cardboard tubes from textile rolls, various scraps of wood and plywood, materials left over from laser or CNC cutting, metal offcuts, failed 3D printing attempts, ceramic semi-finished pieces and other remnants become the starting point for free play with unstructured materials.
Play is a child’s natural way of learning, exploring and expressing themselves. Free play with unstructured materials encourages imagination, creativity and independent thinking. Through this type of play, children develop important life skills, build confidence and learn to solve challenges in their own way—spontaneously and with great curiosity.
We are organising the Materials Playground for the second year in a row in collaboration with the Mala ulica Family Centre. At the beginning, we will explore the materials and their properties together, warm up with a short activity, and then dive into discovering what can be created from them.
Families with children—from toddlers up to seven years old—are warmly invited to join. You can attend as a parent–child pair or as a whole family. Parents or guardians remain present throughout the programme.
Participation is free as part of Materials Week.
We warmly invite you to explore materials together!
