Huberto Široka – Book Presentation and Lifetime Work

You are invited to an evening discussion and the book presentation Huberto Široka, Silversmith and Jewellery Maker, created in collaboration between Huberto Široka and Petra Bole.

The book opens a space for reflection on the body, pain, memory, and the intimate landscapes of existence. Personal experience, reflection, and literary sensitivity intertwine to form a multilayered narrative about life, work, and the meaning of jewellery today.

The conversation will be led by Dalija Sega, Head of the Jewellery Lab, who will discuss with the authors the making of the book, its conceptual foundations, and its broader social and personal context. The event will offer an opportunity for in-depth dialogue, exchange of ideas, and engagement with this new literary work and its creators.

Biography of the Authors

Huberto Široka was born in Zagreb, grew up between Paris and Slovenia, and began his creative journey in Ljubljana in the 1980s. He explored film, poetry, dance, photography, and sculpture before returning to his roots – the family tradition of jewellery-making spanning three generations. He trained with various masters, earned a goldsmith diploma, and opened a workshop in Bled.

His work combines goldsmithing, silversmithing, and medal-making, grounded in exceptional craftsmanship and the narrative power of jewellery. As he puts it: “I transform from maker to storyteller.” He understands jewellery not merely as form but as a medium of meaning and communication.

Petra Bole has participated in over 100 exhibitions at home and abroad and co-created numerous contemporary jewellery and design projects. She was the founder and president of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery of Slovenia (2003–2015) and has led the Section for Unique Design at DOS since 2013.

She is the author of the book Jewellery as Art and numerous scholarly texts. In 2020, she became a beekeeper, curator of the permanent exhibition at the Beekeeping Museum, and author of the book Living Together: About Bees and Humanity.

The event is part of the accompanying programme of the 5th Slovenian Jewelry Week 2026.
