Have you always wanted to learn jewelry making and design but didn’t know how? Would you like to enhance your fashion creations with your own unique jewelry?

Join us for the Jewelry Design Course, where you will delve into all the steps of jewelry creation—from developing an idea and sketching a design to constructing and completing a unique cabochon necklace. We will also touch on theoretical basics, such as the history of jewelry, and explore numerous goldsmithing techniques, including metal riveting, soldering, and stone setting.

ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED, AND YOU WILL TAKE YOUR FINISHED PIECE HOME!

Over eight sessions, you will learn:

  • 1st session:
Theoretical part: We will explore the history of jewelry and begin with an introduction to design and construction. Various techniques to be used during the course will be presented. Participants will gain insight into processes, methods of use, and execution (e.g., crafting spheres, clasps, riveting, stone setting, etc.). Additional educational video content will also be included in the lecture. The focus will be on developing individual ideas and necklace construction designs based on pre-prepared or mentor-suggested elements. Idea sketching.
  • 2nd session:
Selection of the final idea and additional sketching to develop it into a product. Creating paper mock-ups and adjusting the dimensions of the jewelry piece.
  • 3rd session:
Initial production phase: cutting, sawing, filing, sanding, drilling, and shaping basic components.
  • 4th and 5th sessions:
Shaping geometric elements (e.g., spheres, hemispheres), soldering, and riveting.
  • 6th and 7th sessions:
Cabochon stone setting: In the first part, we will craft a bezel for the stone. In the second part, we will mount the prepared bezel onto the necklace frame and set the cabochon.
  • 8th session:
Crafting a clasp, final finishing of components (polishing, sandblasting, sanding), and necklace assembly.

During all eight sessions, you will also receive support and additional guidance for developing your project. This will help you learn time management skills required to create a single piece of jewelry, from sketch to final product.

Please bring a sketchbook, pencil, eraser, and colored pencils. The program is intended for participants aged 14 and older.

*Materials are included in the course price. If you wish to create your piece of jewelry in silver, an additional charge for the material will apply.

Does this workshop count as training?
YES, by attending the course, you will complete training for Jewelry Workstations 1 and 2. In the future, you will be able to use these workstations independently during open hours.

About the mentors:

The course will be led by the mentors of the Center Rog Jewelry Lab.

In her work, Mikuletič combines traditional goldsmithing techniques and heritage with advanced design approaches, creating a unique connection between the past and the future. She works under the jewelry brand Mimotho, which is conceptually, design-wise, and technically closely linked to architecture. Selected collections of her jewelry are also available in Paris and New York.

Olga Košica holds a Master of Arts and studied at the Royal College of Art in London. She has more than twenty years of experience in jewelry design. She has participated in international projects and exhibitions and is the co-creator of the internationally successful brand OfR jewelry, one of the first to introduce 3D-designed fashion jewelry to the market. As a jewelry designer, she has successfully collaborated with Zlatarna Celje for fifteen years. She also works as a guest lecturer at universities both domestically and abroad.

Tina Mežek has earned the title of Master Goldsmith. With her passion for the art of jewelry, she has developed a wide range of skills and knowledge. Together, they create an experience that goes beyond technical skills, uncovering the art of expression through jewelry.

Peter Dragolič refined his foundational goldsmithing skills at Loboda Goldsmithing in Ljubljana and later earned the title of "Master Goldsmith."
