Flexible electronics: make your own flexible LED circuit

Flexible printed circuit boards are extremely useful and - let's face it - pretty cool. They are light, flexible, foldable and can be designed to stretch. Because of these properties, they can be found in digital cameras, laptops, e-textiles and even soft robotics.

Although they are usually made by professional manufacturers using expensive machinery and chemicals, you can create them yourself in complete safety - with a vinyl cutter, which is standard equipment in many fablabs.

Join us for a workshop in the FabLab where we will each create our own flexible printed circuit board. What's in store for you?

• You will learn how flexible printed circuits work and see interesting use cases.
• You will make your own flexible LED circuit to take home.

The workshop will be held in English and is suitable for beginners.

About the mentor:

Jessica Stanley is a researcher working on e-textiles, flexible electronics and engineering education. She first visited the Horn Centre in 2022 as part of the Shemakes EU project supporting women in the textile industry. Jessica has worked in makerspaces and fablabs in Ireland, the Netherlands and the UK, running workshops on electronics, craft and digital fabrication. She has also participated in interdisciplinary art and science exhibitions.

Meeting point for participants is 15 minutes before the agreed time in the entrance hall of Center Rog. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers, which the mentor will show you. Please do not be late for the program as it will disrupt the working process. In the event of a delay, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee entry to the lab.

In case of cancellation, we will notify you two days before the planned start.

If you are unable to attend the program, the participation fee is non-refundable, and it is not possible to change the date. You may transfer your participation to another person, but please notify us at least 24 hours before the start of the program via email at fablab@center-rog.si
