Earring-making
7. 8. 2025

By hammering and forging, interesting and unique shapes can be stamped onto metal to create one-of-a-kind jewellery.
Join us for a workshop in the Jewellery Lab, where we will work on unique metal earrings. We will start with smaller pieces of sheet metal. Using a variety of hammers and other forging tools, we'll hammer the metal base to give the earrings an interesting three-dimensional texture, giving each piece of jewellery a unique character. The hammered sheet metal will then be sawed into the desired shape, sanded and burnished as instructed by the tutor. The finished motifs will be completed in the form of dangle earrings.
In this workshop, we will learn the basics of sawing, filing and grinding metal and how metal behaves when structured using different hammers. The workshop is a great introduction for anyone who is starting to design jewellery and would like to learn the basic techniques of working with metal for jewellery.
The workshop is part of the accompanying programme of the Future Legacies exhibition of the MADE IN platform for contemporary handicrafts. Visit the exhibition until 6 September 2025 in the Main Hall of Center Rog and until 14 September 2025 at the Museum of Architecture and Design - MAO.
About the mentors:
The workshop will be led by mentors from jewellery lab.
Peter Dragolič started to learn about goldsmithing during his schooling in Celje. He completed his training for the Master's degree. Later, in Australia, he improved his jewellery making skills and his knowledge of stones. While acquiring knowledge in gemology, he also started learning how to cut gemstones. Just over a year ago, he returned to his homeland, where he opened a jewellery studio at Center Rog in Ljubljana, together with two jewellery designers, where he creates his own unique jewellery.
Metka Mikuletič has a Master's degree in Architecture and is a jewellery designer. After graduating from jewellery school, she embarked on her own design career. Her work combines traditional goldsmithing techniques and heritage with advanced design approaches, creating a unique link between the past and the future. She operates under the Mimotho jewellery brand, which is closely linked to architecture in concept, design and execution.
