Drip Irrigation
22. 5. 2025

Have you ever poured a whole can of water on your houseplant or balcony sink and then just watched helplessly as the water drained through the dry soil? In reality, our plants do best when the soil is always just right and wet, which is the easiest way to achieve this with drip watering.
Few of us have the time to water ‘'drip by drip’' every day, and this is where drip irrigation systems can help. Not sure how to set up a drip irrigation system on your balcony or urban garden? Then come to a workshop where we will design, build and assemble a drip irrigation system together.
Using the example of building a drip irrigation system for high beds and fruit trees in the Park izbrisanih and Center Rog's Community Garden, we will learn about the basics and benefits of drip irrigation. We will learn how to assemble the main parts of a drip irrigation system and the joints of the pipes. We will also take time to learn practical tips on how to design our own system in terms of overwintering, how to easily move the pipes to dig the soil, how to use valves to separate the beds, etc.
Prerequisites:
NO, prior knowledge is not required. The workshop is intended for all amateur gardeners who would like to equip their garden with a self-built irrigation system.
About the Mentors:
The workshop will be led by Kevin Hartman, an enthusiast in designing and handcrafting products and systems for growing living organisms. He works with hydroponics, aquaponics, indoor plant cultivation, and related technologies for sustainable food production. He specializes primarily in implementing projects for research and educational institutions.
