In the three-part Stitchuation course, we will turn an idea into an embroidered motif on a garment or another textile item. We will learn the basics of tapestry embroidery, develop a design, transfer it to a grid and stitch it. No prior knowledge is required.

Session 1 – from idea to motif

We will explore the technique and grid, prepare a sketch and adapt it for embroidery. Motif examples, typefaces and individual mentoring will be available.

Session 2 – from motif to stitch

We will try basic stitches and useful techniques and begin embroidering our chosen textile.

Session 3 – the finished piece

We will complete the embroidery, remove the grid and learn finishing techniques.

You can embroider a jumper, bag, cap, trousers or jacket. You can also reuse an older item, covering a stain or hole with embroidery.

Drawing materials will be available for the first session. For the second, bring a textile item, embroidery thread and a needle. Embroidery materials are not included in the fee; shopping guidance will be provided at the first session.

Schedule

The programme will take place over 3 sessions:

  • Saturday, 7 November 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00
  • Saturday, 14 November 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00
  • Saturday, 21 November 2026, from 10:00 to 14:00

About the mentor

The course is led by Andraž Grulja, a graphic designer and founder of Stitchuation. He combines traditional tapestry-making with contemporary graphic design and shares his skills through workshops.
