Design, cut, assemble - from 2D to 3D

At our FabLab workshop, we will explore the use of 3D technology and laser cutting to create assembleable objects that you can take home at the end of the workshop.

Duration: 2 sessions of 3 hours each

• Thursday, April 4th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Friday, April 5th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM

What will you learn:

First Session: Participants will learn the basics of 3D modeling using software. We will learn how to design basic 3D models, which will serve as a starting point for further work. We will use the Slicer tool to divide the 3D model into 2D parts. These parts will then be cut out using a laser cutter. The goal of the session is to learn how to create accurate and functional 2D pieces and assemble them into a final 3D structure, such as the flower pot shown in the photo.

Second Session: In this session, we will put the process of cutting parts into practice. We will see how the initial prototype evolves into the final product, which is not only beautiful but also functional. The emphasis will be on practical work, as each participant will have the opportunity to create their own product, such as a vase, desk organizer, or lamp. The workshop aims to understand how individual pieces come together into useful objects and how the process works from idea to product that can be used at home or in the office.

Prerequisites:

• NO, no prior knowledge is required. The workshop is intended for adults.

Does the workshop count as training?

• YES, by participating in the workshop, you will complete training for the laser cutter (valued at €30 for members/€40 for non-members), and next time you can use this workstation independently during open hours.

Participants should gather 5 minutes before the scheduled time in the main entrance hall of the Rog Center.

The workshop will be conducted with a minimum of 5 registrations. In case of cancellation, you will be notified at least two days before the start of the program.

We do not refund fees for our program, and it is not possible to change the date. Participation can be transferred to another person; please inform us at least 24 hours before the start by email: fablab@center-rog.si.
