CNC training
25. 3. 2025

A CNC milling machine is an indispensable tool for manufacturing products from wood and wood composites nowadays. A 3-axis milling machine allows for fast and precise cutting of flat materials as well as milling complex 3-dimensional shapes. Its versatility enables everything from rapid prototyping to nearly mass production of repeatable pieces, as well as the creation of intricate wooden artworks. Additionally, a fourth axis is available for CNC processing of round workpieces.
The 3-hour training covers the most essential basic knowledge needed for independent use of a CNC milling machine. Participants will first learn the basics of safety when working with a CNC milling machine. We will introduce the purpose and usage of the machine and its components.
During the training, you will follow a practical example, from the preparation of the file to the actual production on the machine. This will prepare you to work independently on the CNC milling machine. Firstly, you will prepare a 3D file and convert it into G-code in the CAD/CAM program Fusion360. Then, you will transfer the prepared G-code to the software of the CNC machine, MACH3, which you will also use to control the machine. You will learn how to select the appropriate cutting tool and how to properly install and adjust its position on the machine.
Suitable for beginners, you will learn why and how the different parts of the machine are used, as well as basic woodworking techniques and safety at work. For more advanced users who already have experience, you will learn about a specific machine in the woodworking lab, which will enable you to tackle more complex projects on your own.
Training is suitable for participants aged 14 or older.
