Chinese dumplings
3. 4. 2025

Dumplings are a favourite homemade dish and a big part of celebrations, especially during Chinese New Year, symbolizing good fortune and togetherness. On this workshop we will make traditional Chinese dumplings with two types of fillings—one with meat and another with vegetables and explore two different cooking methods - boiling and pan-frying.
We'll follow a hands-on, step-by-step guide to making dumplings from scratch. From making the dough and preparing the fillings, mixing fresh ingredients for both meat and vegetable dumplings. Afterwards, we'll learn how to properly fold dumplings, ensuring they stay intact during cooking. Lastly, we'll try two cooking methods, by both boiling and pan-frying dumplings to learn how different techniques affect texture and taste. To end the workshop, we'll taste the dumplings we made with various dipping sauces.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have successfully prepared their own batch of Chinese dumplings, cooked in two different ways. The goal is to master the essential skills of dumpling-making, from preparing the dough, filling and folding techniques to cooking them.
Along with the new recipe, you'll also learn about Chinese culinary history and its diverse regional flavors. What are the essential ingredients, cooking techniques, and signature taste profiles.
The workshop will be conducted in English.
