Beginner Course: Linen elastic pants

For beginners who are new to sewing their own clothes - we organise a beginners' sewing course at Center Rog.

Join us for a 3-day sewing course where you will learn the basics of sewing on an industrial sewing machine. You'll learn the basics of adapting a simple pattern to your measurements, how to place the pieces correctly on the fabric, cut, prepare and sew them into the finished product. In this edition of the sewing course, you will learn how to cut and sew linen with elastic pants that will keep you cozy and warm until the end of winter and early spring.

We'll also show you little tricks like how to stabilise the paw on the sewing machine, how to iron edges more easily, methods to assemble and sew cut pieces as accurately as possible, etc.

Making supplies:

Making supplies are included in the price! In the textile lab, we have several different types of fabric available that are suitable for making long pants. Turquoise linen or dark blue denim are available. If you wish, you can bring your own fabric. We recommend that you choose natural, non-slip fabrics, as these are easier to sew and more comfortable to wear. Be sure to wash the fabric beforehand, as it will shrink during the first wash!

Prerequisites:

NO, no prior knowledge is required. The workshop is intended for adults and teenagers from 15 years onwards.

Does the workshop count as training?

YES, by participating in the workshop, you will complete the training for the sewing workstation.

About the mentors:

The workshop will be led by Uroš Topić, head of the textile lab and an enthusiast of pattern making and historical clothing, and Karmen Gombač, a mentor in the textile lab, a master of pattern making, sewing, and many other textile techniques, who always finds the right solution for any sewing problem.

Participants are to gather 15 minutes before the scheduled start time in the entrance hall of the Rog Center. Please store your personal belongings in the lockers before the program begins. Do not be late for the program. Entry is not guaranteed in case of late arrival - once the creative process begins, it is no longer possible to join in!

In case of cancellation, you will be notified no later than two days before the program starts.

In case of non-attendance, fees are non-refundable, and it is also not possible to reschedule. Participation can be transferred to another person; please notify us at least 24 hours before the start at the email address: tekstil@center-rog.si.
