Arata Fuchi – Autobiographical Lecture

As part of the accompanying programme of the Slovenian Jewelry Week 2026, we will host internationally recognized contemporary jewellery artist and SIJW 2026 jury member Arata Fuchi.

He will present his creative journey — from studying industrial design in Japan to developing his authorial contemporary jewellery practice in Florence. He will discuss his approach to material, form, and symbolism, and how his jewellery blends influences from nature, architecture, and tradition with contemporary expression. Key projects, international exhibitions, and award-winning works that have earned him recognition in the global contemporary jewellery scene will also be showcased.

Biography of the Author

Arata Fuchi is an internationally recognized creator of contemporary art jewellery. He graduated in industrial design from Tokyo Zokei University, then worked in the design industry. In 2005, he obtained a goldsmith qualification at Le Arti Orafe school in Florence, where he continued his creative practice.

Since 2006, he has regularly exhibited worldwide (Munich, London, New York, Tokyo, Barcelona, etc.) and participated in prestigious platforms such as JOYA Barcelona, Sieraad Amsterdam, and SOFA Chicago and New York. He has received numerous international awards, including the first prize at Premio Incinque Jewels (Rome, 2024).

His jewellery is featured in numerous professional publications and included in major public and private collections, including the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum (New York), Dallas Museum of Art, and Museum für Angewandte Kunst (Cologne).

The event is part of the accompanying programme of the 5th Slovenian Jewelry Week 2026.
