4th International Conference on Circular Packaging at the Center Rog (16–17 October 2025)
17. 10. 2025
Center Rog will host the 4th International Conference on Circular Packaging (CPC) on 16–17 October 2025. The event will bring together industry, academia and research, packaging designers, and brands – all key players across the packaging life cycle, from the first sketch to reuse and recycling. The focus will be on knowledge exchange, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration to accelerate the shift from linear to circular value chains.
Key speakers include:
- Aljaž But (Steinbeis PolyVert) – Designed to De-value. PolyVert is one of Europe’s leading plastic recyclers. Its new 50 million € facility in Völkermarkt (Austria) uses artificial intelligence for material separation and produces up to 50,000 tons of high-quality recyclate annually. The AI system reliably identifies even difficult-to-separate multilayer materials while detecting irregularities and optimizing processes for consistent quality. This is a powerful story of a Slovenian expert at the heart of European innovation – and a concrete look at how product design determines circularity.
- Lars Sandberg (Blue Ocean Closures) – Next-generation high-density cellulose fiber... Blue Ocean Closures is pioneering the world’s first cellulose-based screw caps, reducing plastic use by up to 85%. This groundbreaking blend of material innovation and industrial capability offers a clear direction for how ideas can move into commercial application.
- Rebeka Nenadović (SIBO Group) – Flip smart, waste less. SIBO is a Slovenian success story with over 50 years of tradition: producing around 10 million closures daily, exporting to 60 countries, and employing over 300 people. Rebeka’s research focus shows how small, smart design decisions in cap development can create a big impact when scaled to millions of units.
The conference is organized by the Faculty of Polymer Technology and the Institute for Cellulose and Paper, in partnership with Center Rog.
