Open Call for the Syncretic Bio-Shelters Residency in Matera
Materahub invites creators to apply for the Syncretic Bio-Shelters artist residency, which will take place in Matera, Italy, from 28 September to 23 October 2026.
The residency is dedicated to the development of wearable projects that bring together sustainable design, Mediterranean heritage and new technologies for addressing climate change. The selected participants will explore how fashion, materials, digital fabrication and local knowledge can open up new ways of thinking about protection, environmental adaptation and future forms of living.
Materahub is looking for two profiles:
- a sustainable fashion or fashion accessories designer,
- a digital fabrication expert with knowledge of technologies such as 3D printing, Arduino, Raspberry Pi or ESP32.
The call is open to candidates from Mediterranean countries. For the sustainable fashion or fashion accessories profile, they are looking for a person aged 26 to 45; for the digital fabrication profile, they are looking for a person aged 25 to 30.
The selected candidates will receive:
- a fee of €1,400,
- reimbursement of travel and accommodation costs up to €1,400,
- the opportunity to work in an international creative environment in Matera.
