In July, Samorogi take over the pop-up shop

The first generation of regular users of the ceramics lab have come together in a pop-up shop, open on Petkovšek Embankment until the end of July. Each brings their own unique perspective on ceramics – from everyday objects to artistic pieces.
They met among clay, kilns, and coffee—and with near-daily encounters, friendships quickly formed. Self-taught, self-assured, self-initiated, and sometimes self-willed, they work in a wide range of ceramic techniques, from hand-building and wheel throwing to 3D printing.
Who’s behind Samorogi?
- Pisea studio – Run by Eva and Tanja Smrekar. Eva’s journey began just a year ago at Center Rog, where she fell in love with ceramics during a wheel-throwing workshop. She’s especially proud of her carefully crafted potica molds. Tanja, on the other hand, loves to experiment with form, creating bowls and vases that combine soft curves with sharp angles.
- Mala Maja – Maja Kotar works at the intersection of art, design, and craft. Her pieces reflect minimalism, quiet elegance, and the tangible quality of natural materials. She is most drawn to the texture of raw clay—especially when contrasted with soft organic forms or delicate glazes.
- Tina Pobegajlo – She began her creative journey in textile and fashion design. Her curiosity led her into the worlds of tattooing and ceramics, where her love of line and surface finds expression through material and form.
- Elanu Ceramics – Špela Ivanuša creates ceramics inspired by childhood memories, expressed through creative form. Each piece reflects the harmony of aesthetics and functionality, bringing warmth, texture, and characterful imperfections into everyday life.
- Jasna Starc – An architect whose newest passion is ceramics. She handcrafts plates, bowls, and other functional items, each one unique. Her work is shaped through free-form building and playful glazing, creating distinctive textures and color combinations.
- Ema Pleško – Raised in a small village, Ema was shaped by the simplicity of nature. Her ceramics reflect this deep-rooted connection, using earthy tones and organic forms to evoke the joy of simple living.
- Marija Staničič – An interior designer who channels her design sensibility into ceramics under the name Mare. Her work combines the precision of a designer with the inspiration of unpredictable nature.
- Strahinja Jovanović – An artist and designer exploring the intersection of nature, algorithms, and design. He merges biology, computing, and art in Fussils, a digital system that generates organic 2D and 3D forms—like vases—that are then 3D-printed from biomaterials into physical objects.
- Terrafina Keramika – Jernej Breznik is a ceramicist and interdisciplinary maker. He focuses on natural forms shaped on the potter’s wheel, aiming to create functional and aesthetically refined pieces that bring beauty into the everyday.
- The walls of the pop-up shop will also feature prints by Maše Prinčič. After years of living and working in Milan, London, and Berlin, she returned to Ljubljana, where she now explores the city’s spirit and beauty through various printmaking techniques. Her works offer a personal take on Ljubljana’s streetscapes.
Wander through the shelves of this temporary shop, brimming with clay, imagination, and unique creations. Samorogi awaits you until the end of July, Monday to Saturday, from 10 AM to 8 PM.
