First Roglab Creathon: Hit the Den!

Projects 27. 10. 2023
Projekti: Prvi Roglabov Kreaton_Krančan_2020

Remember how we used to play tag? You shouted “Den!” when you wanted to stop the game for just a while, to catch your breath in the safe zone of the home base. Do you ever find yourself wishing you could just say “Den!” to stand up to the hectic daily routine, grab a bite without rushing anywhere, walk your dog, study or read, do something you don't need to do or simply revel in doing nothing? At the first RogLab Creathon we’ll create urban dens together, modular pavilions or spatial designs for activities that we want to do outdoors, a bit removed, but not completely isolated.

If you have an idea what your den should be like or if you simply want to spend a creative weekend in good company, join the international two-day Creathon with your friends, or develop your idea on your own. Throughout the process you’ll have a professional team of mentors working in 3D fabrication and modelling, architecture, biotechnology, electrical engineering and the art of spatial interventions to support you and offer some of their valuable advice. We’ll also enjoy the company of master fabricators from the European FabLabNet network.

When and where?
Saturday, 9 December (we begin at 09:00 am) and Sunday 10 December (until 5:00 pm)
Museum of Architecture and Design, Pot na Fužine 2, Ljubljana

What kind of dens can you create?
There’s a reading den, for example, or a love den. Why not a hungry den, lazy den or even a dog den? Some can't resist a sound den and many might well go in for a bio or climate den. In short, you can make any unique den to your own liking.

Who can apply?
You can apply individually or as a team. We are looking for transdisciplinary individuals and teams. No worries if you apply alone – we’ll find the team for you!

What knowledge do you need to join?
None. Make sure you indicate your areas of interest in your application, stating what you do, either professionally or as a hobby.

Mentors

Tomo Per, 3D fabrication (RogLab)
Tomo Per is a self-taught graphic designer and computer enthusiast. His professional career started at the printer's and continued in marketing. He gradually got involved in mentorship in culture and technologies as well. Since March 2016 he has been employed at the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, making sure that users of the digital fabrication laboratory RogLab receive project counselling and technical support, and running training programmes in 3D technologies. He’ll be your support in using 3D printers, the laser cutter and the vinyl cutter.

Cveto Kunešević, 3D modelling (RogLab)
Cveto Kunešević is a 3D designer / creator with 15 years of experience in 3D modelling with Rhino and Fusion 360 programs in architecture, mechanical engineering and industrial design. Together with Intri d.o.o. he runs RogLab’s 3D KITCHN programme – a coworking space where he offers one-to-one support in project development, from the idea through a virtual 3D file to the prototype and the final product. He’ll be your support in 3D modelling and will guide you through the preparation of files for 3D print and laser cutting.

Kristijan Tkalec, biotechnologies (Zavod Kersnikova - Biotehna)
Biotechnologist Kristijan Tkalec has been working in informal science and art education for years and actively participates in art-related projects. Even though his mentoring activity extends to programming, robotics, sensory evaluation and energy engineering, his pet interests include most things bio – plants, microorganisms, fermentation and similar. He’ll be your bio-assistant.
