First Day of Neighbor - create, participate, and celebrate with us" in English
With joy, we announce the first Neighbor Day, a full-day celebration on Saturday, June 1, 2024. To ensure that the event is diverse and inclusive, we invite you to participate in the preparations, which will take place throughout May at the Rog Center. Everyone is welcome - neighbors of all generations, as well as those who don't live nearby but feel connected to the Rog Center. Together, we can organize an unforgettable gathering, get to know each other, and connect!
The meetings, where we will be preparing food, drinks, and various equipment for activities at our communal Saturday party, will last a maximum of three hours and will take place in various labs at the Rog Center (in the cooking, textile, green labs, etc.). You don't need any prior knowledge to participate, just a willingness to create and collaborate.
To facilitate the organization, we invite you to choose a preparatory activity from the links below in which you would like to participate or suggest your own activity that you would like to offer to your neighbors.
What will we be doing?
- Baking Cookies of Happiness / Cooking Lab In the cooking lab, we will bake 300 cookies with beautiful wishes and prizes, which we will distribute and enjoy for free on June 1st. Help us bake and prepare the cookies:
- Nerdy Derby Racetrack / FabLab In the FabLab, we will create a wooden race track for toy cars. We will prepare plans for the track, cut parts with a CNC mill and laser cutter, and prepare parts for the toy cars, which competitors will assemble on June 1st and race with.
- Kombucha Preparation / Green Lab A refreshing kombucha will surely be appreciated on the hot June Saturday. Join us in preparing it in the green lab and learn how to brew this delicious and healthy beverage. On June 1st, we will serve it for free, but only to those who bring their own glasses!
- Park Decoration / Textile Lab To create a festive atmosphere, we will decorate the park with colorful ribbons. Plans will be prepared in advance, and during the meetings, we will cut, sew, assemble, tie... and of course, chat.
- Tree Tiles / Jewelry Lab and Green Lab At the meeting, we will create tags for fruit trees, shrubs, and other plants growing in our park. We will name the trees and engrave information about fruits, flowering, pruning, and more on the tiles. On June 1st, we will organize an educational tour of the orchard and compete in a tree quiz!
- Group Portrait / Ceramics Lab We will prepare ceramic tiles on which neighbors will draw their portraits. The tiles will then be baked, and on June 1st, we will attach them to the inner walls of the park. Thus, a group portrait of our neighborhood will be created!
If none of these activities appeal to you, you can also suggest your own activity! Sign up via the form, choose a category, and describe what you would like to offer to your neighbors, and we will incorporate it into the program. Please keep in mind to bring necessary props with you, that all activities are free, and that they follow the "drop-in" principle - meaning participation does not require prior registration, and anyone passing by can join. Send your suggestions by May 13th, and you will be notified of the selection by May 16th.
