Center Rog received a major award at the 11th Biennial of Slovenian Design Brumen
The international jury awarded the main prize to the overall graphic design of the Rog Center at the 11th Biennial of Slovenian Design Brumen. The winning solution, as well as works of other participants, can be viewed at the biennial exhibition at the Rog Center until Saturday, May 4, 2024, where the awards ceremony for excellent Slovenian design was also held on Tuesday evening.
Center Rog is a modern creative-production space dedicated to craftsmanship, design, architecture, and applied arts. In designing the comprehensive graphic identity of Ljubljana's new creative hub, the design team aimed to depict the mission of the Rog Center and its activities in a visual language. This was recognized and rewarded by the five-member jury of the 11th Biennial of Slovenian Design Brumen, who stated in their explanation that 'the visual identity successfully portrays the concept of design as a process. The vibrant pictograms, signage, leaflets, and overall visual identity establish a dialogue between tools and materials, between the creative process and the final product, between the events within the Rog Center and the external audience. The comprehensive graphic identity thus moves away from predictable and safe design, putting Ljubljana on the map of inspiring and confident graphic design.'
The director of Center Rog Renata Zamida, highlighted: 'For us as the client, this is also an award for the effort invested in the process of creating and implementing our comprehensive identity, and of course, confirmation of our choice of the creative team. We are proud that we chose a design that is recognized as a top design contribution and initially meant a playful addition to the monolithic architecture of the building, but today we cannot imagine the Rog Center without these specific images, colors, and logo.'
The visual identity is credited to the collective Ansambel, for the award-winning project composed of: Nejc Prah (creative and artistic direction, design), Klemen Ilovar (photography), Matija Medved (illustrations and animation), Dan Adlešič (consulting). Typography is the work of Elias Hanzer, and the project was coordinated by Anže Sekelj.
The Brumen Foundation, with the Biennial of Slovenian Design, which is the central event in the field of design in Slovenia, along with the Brumen Awards, the highest national awards in the profession, rewards excellent Slovenian designers, quality visual messages, and clients who see design as a significant competitive advantage.
