We invite all those with a "green fingers" to join our team of volunteers and become a caretaker of the Park izbrisanih, which, with its nearly 8,000 m², serves as a green oasis in front of the Center Rog.

Part of the park is designed as an orchard with native Slovenian fruit trees such as cherries, apples, pears, persimmons, plums, peaches, and more. The fruit trees are surrounded by a meadow that is mowed only twice a year and, together with the trees, provides food for various pollinators, including the bees residing on the roof of the Center Rog, where we have two beehives. In another part of the park, various trees are planted, each with an edible part: for example, black and white mulberry, wild pear and apple, walnut, linden, and others. This area of the park features a lawn that is regularly mowed. Additionally, the park includes a teaching garden consisting of 24 raised beds dedicated to growing vegetables and learning urban gardening practices. We have also planted climbing plants along the wall, ranging from grapevines to kiwi.

  • What Will the Caretaker's of the Park izbrisanih Tasks Involve?

The tasks of the Park Caretakers will include removing grass around trees, mulching, caring for park trees, fertilizing the grass, and other duties to ensure that the park remains beautiful, well-maintained, and functional. We will manage the park according to the seasons and the needs of the plants and insects that reside there. We will also occasionally invite experts from various fields—such as tree caretakers, tree pruning specialists, pollinator experts, and urban plant knowledge professionals—to our caretaker meetings to share their knowledge and experiences with us.

  • Who Can Join?

We welcome all individuals aged 15 and over who are interested in horticulture and environmental protection or who simply wish to spend time in nature and help maintain green spaces in an urban environment. Individuals, families, retirees, students, and anyone with a passion for nature and community service are invited to join.

Join us and become part of the community that is dedicated to preserving and enhancing our park, which is still developing, making the care for its young plants all the more important.

  • What Do You Get as a Volunteer?

We will sign a volunteer agreement with you, valid for one year from the date of joining the volunteer program. As a volunteer caretaker for the Park of the Disappeared, you will be entitled to transportation reimbursement and a one-year free membership to the Center for Creativity, which offers numerous benefits.

You can join the caretaker team throughout the year. Our first meeting will be on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 5:30 PM.At the first meeting, we will discuss the tasks, set up a schedule for our meetings (which will be approximately once a month), and start working in the park!
